Coffee at The Point

This campaign has been launched to gather the required funds to reopen Coffee at The Point (The Point), a staple in a reviving and historically significant area. The Point is a 3,000-square-foot coffee and wine lounge in the center of Denver's Five Points neighborhood. In addition to a diverse menu that includes beer, wine, gelato, sandwiches, and more, The Point offers event and meeting space for the community. Coined Community-Inspired and Community-Driven, The Point has donated over 95% of the space to community organizations, non-profits, and other gathering groups.

The Point is YOUR destination. It is a secure, one-of-a-kind, and comfortable place to meet your friends, to study, to work on your dissertation, and more. We are here for your first date experience. The Point is a convenient central gathering place. The Point is your home away from home and workplace away from the office.

The Shut-Down

On July 31, 2022, 12-year-old, award-winning Coffee at The Point closed for numerous reasons. In a statement to fans and the community (posted on the Coffee at The Point Facebook page ), owner Ryan Cobbins accepted responsibility for The Point's shortcomings.

In his message, Ryan states, "In the last year, there have been a compounding number of events that have been taxing. Inflation and growing labor costs continue to hinder the company's operations. Our level of service has had a dramatic fall, which is my fault.

Our work quality and cleanliness are no longer up to "Ryan" standards. This is also my fault and requires me to take immediate action. We have had more food walk out the door by our staff, which adds to the challenges of doing business. And I get it; the overindulgence of an unmonitored system leads to increased food consumption. Outside of a 100% discount on employee meals while working, this is due to my lack of oversight.

This crucial decision gives me both heartache and a feeling of renewal. We will halt immediately to improve our systems, update our menu to match the demands of our clients, and introduce other systems geared to help our workers."

Time to Reopen

Now is the time to get excited about Coffee at The Point's reopening. The space will remain unchanged. Nonetheless, we anticipate that our service and systems will impress you.

It has been over 30 days since we last generated any revenue. We need $56,052 to cover overdue rent for the previous month (plus the current month), reopen labor expenses, inventory, repair & maintenance, cleaning expenses, and to meet the resumption of vendors.

Therefore, we have started this campaign and solicited contributions to enable the reopening. Please make a generous donation and help us reopen in October.

There will be options for contributors to be acknowledged with a plaque within the coffee shop, on our website and social media, options to book space, and additional co-marketing opportunities.

Thank you for your love and support.

IMAGINATION LIBRARY, 8% DONATION

Since Ryan is uncomfortable asking for assistance for his business, it is significant for him to have a partnership with a non-profit organization. Therefore, 8% of your contribution will be donated to Imagination Library of Denver, whose aim is "To increase access to age-appropriate books and promote kindergarten readiness."

Ryan has three daughters and is enthusiastic about child education and reading. You may have seen the complimentary books at Coffee at The Point. We appreciate your support of Imagination Library. We are grateful for everything Imagination Library does and provides for the children and teenagers in our community.

With Much Gratitude

We are grateful for your time reviewing and considering contributing to our community campaign to reopen Coffee at The Point. We are delighted to return to serve our beloved community. We will keep you informed on our work and hope to see you at the reopening.

With immense affection and appreciation,

Ryan D. Cobbins
