Help Replace Shoshana's Wheelchair

Hi folks, I'm Shoshana and I'm reaching out today because of a serious emergency: my wheelchair has broken.

Back in 2010 I started having serious back problems. It required me to leave a good job in retail and go on temporary disability before I went to graduate school. By 2014, as my health issues got worse, I was required to get a wheelchair to get around. For a long time I was able to use a manual wheelchair, but gradually I was unable to go around on my own with the wheelchair without help. Finally, in 2019 I needed to get a power wheelchair to stay mobile and independent. Thanks to fundraising, I was able to get an Electra 7 HD power wheelchair. Because of that chair, I was able to stay on the go, from going to the store for groceries to travelling all over. I was able to work in an office setting before Covid and do the basic everyday things people enjoy, all because of my Electra 7.

Sadly, years later, my Electra 7 has finally stopped working. I've had to service the chair before for simple things, repairs that have cost in the thousands of dollars. But now the chair has been welded, repaired, and held together as best as possible. Recently it stopped charging and after testing both the batteries and charger, there's more wrong with the chair than can be cured.

The problem: I have been largely unemployed since I was laid off during Covid (since 2021). The last few years have been financially impossible and now I am in serious financial trouble. And of course, now my chair breaks. The replacement cost? $3500 for a new Electra 7 HD.

And so, I'm asking for your help.

A wheelchair is necessary for me to get around. As my health has gotten worse, I can no longer walk further than a few yards without immense pain. Without a power wheelchair I am trapped in the house unless I have someone to push my chair. And that keeps me from seeking work outside the house (though I'm still pushing for remote work). If I want to be able to go to a doctor, or go out and buy a carton of milk, I need my chair back. And for that, I need to raise this money, and as soon as possible.

The $3500 would go directly to purchasing an Electra 7 HD chair (and the accessories that come with it) as well as tax and shipping and such. Until I raise the money, I'm virtually homebound, so you can understand why time is a factor. And as always, every little bit helps. If you can't donate, please try to share this far and wide.
