Help Paula Heal and Thrive

Dear Friends, Family, and Kind Strangers,

We are reaching out to ask for your support for my wife, Paula, as she faces an unexpected and challenging medical journey.

Paula, who has worked arduously for years to become a physician, is currently a psychiatry resident dedicated to treating those who struggle with mental illness. She is a mother of two, Mateo who is almost 10 and Nina who is 6 years old.

I am also a resident in training which limits our financial means and increases our need for childcare as we have no family in town.

On February 4th 2025, after a serious car accident, a CT scan in the ER revealed something completely unforeseen—a large meningioma requiring neurosurgery. While we are incredibly grateful it was discovered before causing further complications, the road ahead will be difficult.

Paula’s employers have been wonderfully supportive, but she will need to take extended time off through FMLA, which unfortunately is unpaid. As she focuses on recovery, the financial strain of covering essential expenses—mortgage, childcare, food, and gas as well as medical bills—will be significant.

Any contribution, no matter how small, will help ease the burden and allow her to heal without the added stress of financial insecurity. If you’re unable to donate, sharing this message and keeping Paula in your thoughts means the world to us.
