My name is Becky Aldridge, and I am the President of the Arrowhead Artists and Artisans League in Old Fort, NC.
The Arrowhead Artists and Artisans League (A3L), created in 2013, is a 501(c)(3) and North Carolina non-profit that has been dedicated to promoting the arts in the Old Fort and surrounding communities, providing education in the arts to the citizens and visitors of Old Fort; ensuring local artists and artisans have opportunities to display their skills and work; and preserving the art of the area for future generations.
On Friday, September 27th, Hurricane Helene brought much destruction to our small town and our beautiful gallery, studios, and classrooms were submerged in over 3 feet of water. Destroyed or damaged was the work of 52 gallery artists and artisans and most of the supplies, equipment, tools, and fixtures that supported our vibrant classes and workshops, glass studio, and newly outfitted clay studio.
For pictures of Helene's destruction in our space:
We are committed to our mission now more than ever! Our goal is to begin operations, classes, and materials distribution in a new location as soon as we can, to provide our devastated artists and displaced artists in our region with some income and offer our community artistic opportunities that will be therapeutic in this time of destruction and rebuilding. Our immediate goals will be to prepare our new space for classes and studios. This will include building projects, purchasing and repairing equipment, tools and supplies. Please help us if you can.
