My Vision: Restoring Sight Beyond the Cost
Friends, Family, and Kind Hearts,
I am reaching out today to share the story of Charlie, whose resilience in the face of adversity has always inspired me and countless others. Over the years and due to duchenne muscular dystrophy, Charlie has battled significant health challenges requiring long-term steroid use to preserve the strength of his heart and lungs. Regrettably, at age 27 this necessary treatment has come with many steep prices and now—his eyesight.
Recently, Charlie’s vision has drastically declined, transforming daily tasks into challenges. After seeking medical advice, we were relieved to discover a solution: a lense replacement procedure.
However, our hope turned to frustration when the Eye Center deemed this essential lense “cosmetic,” refusing even to attempt billing AZLTC or Medicare insurances and requiring payment in full upfront. Their stance leaves us without the option to appeal a potential denial for medical necessity, as they have repeatedly set up and canceled the procedure amidst our efforts to collaborate with insurance providers.
Charlie managed to secure a medical credit card, covering the cost for one eye. Yet, with the operation for his other eye scheduled in just two weeks, he faces a financial gap of $4,125.

We aim to raise funds to cover the cost of Charlie’s second eye surgery, ensuring he can fully reclaim his eyesight.
