Help restore Edmund Goodman's grave
Donation protected
I would like to get the gravestone restored of the founding father of Crystal Palace Football Club, Edmund Goodman. When Crystal Palace approached Aston Villa for help in setting up a South London Football Club in 1905, Villa offered their Assistant Secretary, Edmund Goodman. Edmund helped to appoint both the first Manager and Chairman of Crystal Palace FC.
In 1907, he took over as Manager and remained in post for 18 years, becoming the longest serving Manager in the clubs history.
In 1925 he stepped down as Manager and became Club Secretary until retiring in 1933.
Edmund died in 1960 and is buried at Beckenham Crematorium and Cemetery, Elmers End Road. The gravestone is badly in need of repair and restoration.
This page is set up so that his memorial can be returned to its original condition and more fitting of the most important person in the history of Crystal Palace Football Club
