Help Restore Lt. McCrea's Home and Honor a Tuskegee Airman’s Legacy
In the historic Vandeventer neighborhood of St. Louis, MO (63113), Delores McCrea, an 86-year-old U.S. Air Force 2nd Lt. Registered Nurse, has been displaced from her beloved home due to a heartbreaking turn of events. Lt. McCrea’s home, which was being renovated through the Mission St. Louis Healthy Homes Program to serve as a transitional home for veteran women of influence, now lies uninhabitable.
What should have been a beacon of hope has turned into a nightmare. Subcontractors working on the project not only caused severe damage to Lt. McCrea's roof but also to her neighbor’s property—the home of the late Tuskegee Airman Charles Brantley. Their negligence, including attempts to cover up the damage with temporary fixes like tarps, has left both properties in disrepair.
Lt. McCrea dedicated her life to serving others—first as a nurse in the U.S. Air Force and now as a community advocate, working to create a safe haven for other veteran women. Now, she needs our help.
This campaign seeks to restore both Lt. McCrea’s home and honor the legacy of her neighbor, Charles Brantley, a Tuskegee Airman whose property also deserves the respect and care befitting a hero.
Insurance has covered part of the displacement costs, but the legal and repair expenses are overwhelming. We’re aiming to raise $20,000 to cover:
• Legal costs to hold the subcontractors accountable.
• Repairing the roof and restoring both properties to their original condition.
• Ensuring Lt. McCrea can continue her mission to support veteran women.
This campaign is about more than just bricks and mortar. It’s about standing with Lt. McCrea—a decorated veteran and community advocate—and honoring the memory of Charles Brantley, a hero of the Tuskegee Airmen. Together, we can show that their sacrifices and legacies will not be forgotten.
Every donation, no matter the size, helps bring us closer to justice and restoration. Please consider contributing today and sharing this campaign with your network.
Let’s rally together to restore hope, honor, and dignity for Lt. McCrea while preserving the legacy of the late Tuskegee Airman Charles Brantley.
Donate now to make a difference in their lives and their community.
