Help Rebuild Our Siesta Key Neighborhood, Polynesian Gardens, After Hurricane Helene ❤️

This beloved neighborhood Polynesian Gardens, home to 150 people, has been devastated by Hurricane Helene, leaving over 80% of its residents with severe flood damage. This modest neighborhood has been a mainstay in historic Siesta Key, many of its residents have lived there since the 70’s and do not have flood insurance. Others with flood insurance completely lost all of their personal belongings and while insurance may cover structural repairs, it does not replace clothing, personal valuables, furniture, and basic everyday items.

Update 10/3: FEMA and the County are unable to help with Trash pick-up throughout the island. Mold is rapidly growing throughout the outdoors with mounds of trash piled up. In addition to supporting the rebuild of the neighborhood that is not covered by insurance, these funds will immediately go to supporting paying for private trash and debris removal which is very expensive and required for sanitary reasons.

We are asking for support as we work to reestablish this beautiful neighborhood. Your generous contributions will help those affected recover their essentials, remove the mounds of trash/debris piled up, and begin to rebuild their homes. Every dollar counts.

Please note: I am a personal friend of a resident and have started this page on behalf of those who live there as a favor and task, so that they can continue focusing on removing dangerous debris, stripping walls to prevent mold growth, coordinating with insurance adjusters, and manage finding temporary housing.
