Donate to Help Poppy Cleaners After LA Fires

Hi everyone,

My husband and I are starting this GoFundMe as a result of the LA fires destroying my parents' business in Altadena and leaving their employees without work.

To provide some background:

My father moved to America from Korea when he was 27 not knowing any English. He worked three jobs as a janitor, folding clothes at a retail store, and washing dishes at a restaurant—all while trying to learn English on his limited downtime.

During this time, he was sending money back to support his mother and siblings in Korea, while also supporting my mother, sister, and me here in California.

After years of saving the little extra left over, my parents eventually had enough to open a cleaners in Downey. From there, they saved enough money to start a business in LA County. He has since owned Poppy Cleaners in Altadena for +25 years (referenced in the video above). In that time he helped dozens of families start their businesses throughout the community.

For almost three decades, it has been him, my mother, and the same employees operating Poppy Cleaners. The Eaton fire took that from them and now they are back at square one figuring out their next steps.

This GoFundMe will be used to support my parents and their employees who have been with them for decades and have been severely impacted by the fires.
