Help Reunite D's Family separated by the Afghanistan war
Donation protected
My name is Patricia Parera. I am a retired poverty alleviation and social inclusion specialist who worked for many years with the United Nations in some of the poorest countries of the world. I met “D” (can’t expose his name) at a U. S. University. He is my husband’s PhD student. He needs help to reunite with his family. When the Taliban took over Afghanistan, the U.S. government project he worked on ended. He was able to escape and is now studying at a U.S. university associated with the project. The university is helping, but it isn’t enough. The family was to be evacuated soon after he left, but that did not happen, and they had to go into hiding. For months they lived in fear and endured hardships. But recently, the student’s father helped the wife and children (5 daughters and a son) flee to a neighboring country. Though they escaped immediate danger, their journey is far from over, and they desperately need help to get to the U.S.
Every contribution brings the family one step closer to being reunited. The goal is to raise $20,000 to help him pay for seven (7) airfares, associated logistics, visa requirements, and to give them a start as a family together with a secure future.
I hope you can help. Any amount is welcome. Thank you so much
