Help Reunite Our Afghan Ally with his Family

We are a group of North Shore volunteers who have worked to settle Afghan refugees in Massachusetts. One of our new neighbors was a 20-year member of the Afghan military and worked closely with US forces on logistics and intelligence efforts to support the US Army's ground efforts. When the Taliban regained power, his life was in imminent danger and he was evacuated from Kabul during the 2021 withdrawal of US troops. He had no choice but to leave his wife and children behind where they continue to be harassed by the Taliban. We cannot publicly reveal our friend's name here as it would endanger his family.

After years of waiting, the family has been granted an interview at the US embassy in New Delhi in preparation for family reunification here in the US where our friend now has legal status. While this is exciting progress, the next month of applications, flights, lodging, and medical exams comes with an enormous financial burden. We need your help to bring this family back together. All donations will go directly to our friend's US bank account and will be used for the following expenses.

Relocation cost estimates:

Flights from Kabul to New Delhi for 6 persons @ $400 each plus return flight for nephew, - total $2,800

Hotel in New Delhi, 2 rooms @ $50/room for 21 nights (assumes three weeks) - total $2,100

Medical appts for 5 persons, @ $200 each - total $1,000

Daily Food costs for 6 persons for 21 days, @$50 each - $1,000

Misc travel costs in New Delhi, incidentals over 21 days: $600

Interpreter costs for USCIS US Embassy interview and medical appt @ $500

And finally, Flights from New Delhi to Boston (hopefully non-stop) for 5 people @ $1,400 each - total $7,000

Volunteers have provided steadfast support to our Afghan Ally since his arrival. We are grateful to our congressman Seth Moulton and his staff for their continued advocacy. Now, with your help, we must reunite our friend and ally with his wife, daughters, and only son. Help bring this family to the USA!
