225K lbs of Oak Firewood Ironically Lost to fire

Donation protected
A lot of life is determined by the luck we fall into. I fell into selling Firewood, and if you buy Oak from me, you’re likely burning wood cut and split by Rev and Katherine Salinas in East Texas. They are my largest supplier; they cut the trees, split the wood and load the trucks. They are some of the nicest and hardest working people I've ever met.

Folks of means have ways of weathering the bad and turning the good towards betterment of their own and others’ lives, without knowing what it’s like to be one unexpected turn of events from catastrophe.

On December 13, 2020, a fire took hold of four eighteen wheelers worth, or about 225,000 pounds, of their wood. That’s a month of work and at least $15,000 lost from their family’s income. Not only is this time and money that they'll never get back, and wood none of us will ever see or keep warm from, but none of it is covered by any form of insurance. No one offers coverage to firewood businesses of our size.

This year has been a huge turning point for growth for Bill's Metroplex Firewood, which Rev and Katherine Salinas are the backbone of. None of what we do is possible without their constant goodwill and efforts. They work their asses off and never ask anyone for a handout, but they’ve experienced a great loss, and your contribution, as one among many, will go far to helping recoup that loss and growing a stable base that will better serve you in 2021.

I know it's a tough ask. You all have your own challenges this year. Maybe you haven't even purchased Oak from us because you love your Piñon, or your pecan, or some other wood. Or maybe you just loved to listen to my Uncle, when he came to sit down on your patio, or called you up, or sat on your porch and ruined your good chair or walked into your dining room at 6am lightly prodding you for a cup of hot black.

Folks, I'm appealing to you because Rev & Katherine cannot and would not. If you can spare $10, $20, $100, and we can meet this goal or surpass it, I will write them a check for the full amount , post proof of it at the end of this campaign and absorb all the credit card fees myself.

I hope you are all doing well, enjoying your Holiday celebrations, be it Christmas, Kwanzaa, Hanukkah, Festivus or whatever you celebrate, still socially distanced, that this wild and chaotic 2020 has brought us.

Please help us extend a hand to some of the hardest working people you've never met.

Thank you.
