HELP REVITILIZE SCHOOL IN ISINLIVI - ECUADOR

This Go Fund Me campaign supports the 56 children attending Unidad Educativa de Isinlivi in the remote village of Isinlivi, nestled in the Andean Mountains of Cotopaxi Province, Ecuador. These children, aged 4 to 12 years, walk long distances from 17 surrounding communities to receive education each day.

Despite their rich cultural heritage, many families in Isinlivi face significant challenges. Living on less than $1 pp per day, they struggle with limited healthcare, high illiteracy rates, extreme poverty, inadequate housing, and a lack of basic amenities such as clean water and electricity.

Education: A Beacon of Hope

Education is crucial for empowering the younger generation and providing them with opportunities for brighter future. However, the pandemic has left the primary school in disrepair. With deteriorating furniture, inadequate restrooms, broken windows, doors, playgrounds and need for fresh paint, the school urgently needs revitalization.

Our Goal: Transform the School

We aim to raise an estimated $4,500 to achieve the following essential short-term improvements:

1. NEW PLAYGROUND - $2,160+

The current playground is unsafe with broken wood and sharp steel pieces. We need to replace it with safe and inspiring equipment, including climbing frames, swings, slides and seesaws.

2. PAINT 5 CLASSROOMS - $1,500

The classrooms need urgent painting, moisture treatment, and repairs due to earthquake damage. We want to use high-quality paint and add curtains to one classroom to protect students from sunlight.

3. PROVIDE EDUCATIONAL MATERIAL - $840

There´s a severe shortage of books, exercise books, pens, notebooks, and craft materials. We aim to supply teachers with the necessary resources to enhance their classes.

What We’ve Accomplished So Far – Update September 2024

We launched this campaign in June, and by August 2024, we’ve already hit two major milestones:

1. Painted five classrooms

2. Provided new educational materials

We purchased the paint in Quito and traveled to Isinliví with an amazing team of volunteers from Happy Gringo Travel Agency. Together, we painted the classrooms and officially delivered the educational supplies to the school.

Now, we’re focusing on our next goal: fully renovating the playground for the kids!

Who We Are

This initiative is a collaboration between Happy Gringo Travel Agency in Quito and Llullu Llama Mountain Lodge in Isinlivi. Together, we will raise funds, buy supplies, coordinate maintenance and work together with parents to create a better learning environment.
