Help Rex Overcome Unjust Financial Burden

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Rex, and I’m reaching out for help during one of the hardest times in my life.

I’ve always been careful about debt, always avoiding it because it terrifies me. Through the mistake of trusting a long-time friend, I’ve been saddled with an enormous financial burden that I can no longer handle alone.

Here’s what happened: My former business partner, a person I'd known for years, left me with $45,000 in credit card debt at nearly 30% interest after he drained the company’s funds and disappeared. The business, which I poured my heart and all my resources into, had to be sold, and every cent from the sale has gone directly toward paying off this crushing debt. I've done my best to handle this alone, but I just haven't managed to find new employment, and with the recent emergency medical needs of my cat, I just can't handle it alone anymore.

Right now, I’m drowning. The pressure has taken a massive toll on my mental health, and every day feels like an uphill battle I'm bound to lose in time.

Additional information: I did initially reach out to the credit card company to see what I can do. Their only available help was to lower the interest rate temporarily, and the time period on that is coming to an end at the end of this month. Given I can't find work, this means that the progress I've made paying off this debt will be undone in a matter of months.

The card initially had a completely manageable 10k limit and was expressly to be an emergency-only temporary card for the business. My ex-business partner decided he knew better, and rather than paying the card off as we went, he used it to its maximum, which had become 40k by the time he decided to leave. Better, apparently, to use that money to line his pockets. I tell you this solely to illustrate that this wasn't simply my getting in over my head with a credit card; it was the deliberate actions of another party that has me in this situation.

I'm fundraising to pay off this enormous debt and to get back on my feet. The funds will help me manage the financial burden and allow me to focus on finding new employment and taking care of my cat's medical needs.
