Medical Expenses For Rhonda In The ICU

Donation protected

My mom, my best friend, my confidant, Rhonda, has Covid. Because of that, she now has bilateral interstitial pneumonia (which is pneumonia in both lungs). We admitted her to the hospital on 12/20/21. Her blood oxygen level fell to around 64, and 95-100 is considered normal. She is hooked up to a machine called BiPap, which essentially is a mask that is strapped to her head, that pushes pressurized air into her lungs. She can’t speak or eat while this is on. Because of covid regulations, she can have absolutely no visitors. This sadly means that she will be alone in the hospital on Christmas. She has to remain on BiPap until her pneumonia is gone out of both lungs, and she can oxygenate on her own.

They also have her on steroids and blood thinners. Apparently covid causes blood clots too, so they want to make it harder for them to accumulate.

She has quite a few existing and past health issues, like breast cancer (she beat it), nerve damage in her chest from her double mastectomy, total hysterectomy because of an incurable painful bladder syndrome and pelvic floor dysfunction, recurrent kidney stones, and arthritis in her spine. Due to all of these handicaps, my mom wasn’t able to keep working. She really enjoyed what she did, but she just couldn’t bear the pain everyday at work. Keep in mind, my mom is still in her 40s. Her nurse is surprised that her symptoms are so severe considering her age. But I will post an update under this with all the details of her health problems so I don’t bombard you right now.

She is so strong it’s unbelievable. I know there is no cure for most of her existing problems, but there IS a way to help her now. The only issue is that with her leaving her job, she doesn’t have any health insurance. And you all KNOW that hospital visits/stays cost an arm and a leg and then some. They’re probably charging her $50 to use a pillow. It’s already bad enough that she is missing Christmas, but we don’t even know when she will get to come home. Hopefully the treatment they’re giving her works well and works soon. I literally hate asking anyone for money, but I would do anything for my mom. Any donations you can make will be so very, deeply appreciated. And if you can’t donate, I ask that you please put my mother in your prayers. Actually ALL of you, please put her in your prayers. Thank you for sticking around to read this, and thank you for your help❤️
