Help Rich Breathe Again

Thank you for reading this…
I would like to raise money and awareness! My dear friend Rich is struggling to live. His kidneys and lungs are failing him. All due to genetics.

One year ago, August 2022, Rich went into the hospital. The past year has brought him many obstacles, including choosing life or death. The strength and courage to live, along with his wife, Christine’s, commitment to getting him better has brought him here.

They, together, have endured oxygen tanks, dialysis treatments, learning how to do home dialysis treatments, take blood samples, multiple doctor visits, revamped their home for Rich’s care and not to mention, spent more time in the hospital than home. Rich has been in and out of ICU. Lastly he is on a ventilator to breathe.

I am not sure I would have made it as far as they have. I am not sure my will to live is as strong. It certainly makes you think.

Christine’s mother then gets diagnosed with cancer. Christine goes between two local hospitals to care for both important people. Christine is also trying to work and keep her department at the hospital running.

I received a phone call from Christine, my good friend of 15 years. “I don’t think my mom is going to make it”. Her mother passed that week. Now funeral planning and hosting begins, with Rich in the hospital.

This week Christine and Rich receive notice that Rich does not qualify for the dual transplant at a Pittsburgh Hospital.

I received the same sad call again, similar to the one a week prior. The will to live. This time the call ended with Christine ready to fight for her husband’s life yet again.

With the support of family, friends, colleagues doctors and nurses, they are finally at this point.

“Last night got a call from provider at 8:30
San Diego medical center is willing to have rich go there to be evaluated for double transplant
Paperwork is being done
Could be Monday that we head to California
It's a miracle
We know it's not a guarantee but they want to see him
Keep the prayers coming”

I want this couple to have every chance at a life together. Would you help please. Thank you.
