Help Richard Craven with medical & final expenses

Donation protected
Hello. As many of you may have already heard, Richard Craven, (husband of Annette Craven, father of Matt Edwards, Anthony Craven, Samantha Tezak and Sara Keller) is in the hospital with COVID -19 in grave condition. He was diagnosed with COVID-19 on 10/15/21 and taken by ambulance in the hospital on 10/25/21. His current condition is stable but critical. Richard is on a ventilator, in a medically induced coma (sedation). In the last couple of days, the doctors and nurses have tried to decrease his sedation, the results have been up and down. His vent is holding at 60% and has a chest tube for the fluid build up in his lungs. The goal currently is to do a trachestomy in an effort to get him out of the medically induced coma so that they can get him moving. In order to do the tracheostomy, the ventilator needs to be at 50%. They do the COVID PCR test a few times a week and his is still infected, so he will continue to be in isolation in the ICU until he is no longer infectious. Since he is still in isolation, the family have not yet been able to see him. The plan after the tracheostomy is to transfer him to a long term acute care center. He is still making improvements despite the setbacks. We continue to pray for a positive outcome.

Richard has insurance, however, he has a large deductible that he will need to pay this year and the beginning of next year. In addition, once he gets moved to a long term acute care facility, the insurance only covers 100 days. After that, the average daily cost will be approximately $275 per day. After he gets out of of the long term acute care facility, he will need occupational therapy to continue working on his daily living skills. The insurance only covers a few occupational therapy sessions, so most of those expenses will be out of pocket. Richard has a long road to recovery, so his medical expenses will be adding up quickly. Your donations will help with his current and future medical expenses.

Richard and Annette began their relationship as high school sweethearts in 1983 and have been in love ever since. They married shortly after graduation in 1985 and have never been apart for longer than 7 days, until now. Richard and Annette have the type of love that many only dream of finding in a lifetime. Earlier this year, they built their dream home to have more space to entertain friends and watch their grandchildren grow up. Richard will proudly tell you that he did most of the decorating, but Annette happily purchased many of the decorations. They currently have 6 grandchildren, Brenden, Charlotte, Alexandria, Lucas, Colten and Kash, with the newest edition, Kash Keller, being born on October 15th. Since Kash was born the day Richard was diagnosed, they have yet to meet in person. We know that when they finally meet, Richard will "eat him up for dinner" as he often says when kissing his grand-kids' cheeks. We are praying for many more happy years for them to spend together, spoiling their growing family.

Richard is a small business owner and his business relies on him. We will celebrate his 10 year anniversary of owning CR Towing on December 1st. The majority of staff have been with Richard from the start, and they are more like a family than strictly coworkers (many are actual family). Since he has been in the hospital, they have all gone above and beyond to make sure the business continues to run smoothly in his absence.

Everyone who knows Richard knows that he is a selfless type of man. He loves to give his family and friends a hard time and tease, but those who know him, also know he's just a big teddy bear who takes care of those closest to him.  We feel so blessed by the outpouring of support that we've received from friends and loved ones. This has been extremely hard on the entire family, mentally, emotionally and financially, and we couldn't have made it this far without the continued prayers and love from all of you. We understand that not everyone can contribute financially, so we ask that you continue praying for healing for Richard, guidance for the medical team, and patience and comfort for all of us who love him as we wait for him to come home.

In addition to this GoFund me page, we are also selling Richard Craven Racing t-shirts to raise money as well.  If you would like to purchase a t-shirt please click HERE  .
