Two years awaiting social security & still in dire straits.

I am helping my friend and previous coworker, Richard, get some support while navigating through a difficult time. A series of unfortunate circumstances have left him in a dire financial situation. One thing I know is true, we are all one or two unexpected events away from being in a similar situation. It's a hard thing to ask for help but as a beloved member of our community, I believe people will show up for Richard, give him the hope to continue and help him through this rough patch.
