Help Richelle Procure a Home

Donation protected
Richelle Hart is a beloved singer/performer/artist who has resided in Sonoma County for thirty-five years. She is in need of a safe, permanent dwelling to call her forever home.

I met Richelle almost thirty years ago. We have twice been roommates over the years. She helped my young child and I move into a loving home when I was in need. She is always there to help others. Let’s band together and do the same for her.

We’ve decided to create a GoFundMe for Richelle in hopes that she can raise enough money for a down payment on a mobile home to call her own. A home where she can sing, continue making beautiful art, safely park her car, and a place for her beloved pup to play.

Any donations, big or small, will be truly appreciated.

Richelle’s story as shared with me

I am an artist and use part of my garage to make beautiful and unique items. For nine years I have been the custodian at a local charter school in Santa Rosa, part-time. I also run a side business, helping people get organized in their homes and offices. I have helped low-income people to de-clutter their living spaces who couldn’t otherwise afford it.

After thirteen years in my home, my landlord is selling the house. I may only have 60 days to find a new home, so time is of the essence.
I only work part-time, due to some limitations with health issues, which I bravely endure and manage well. I am now facing eviction and double the rent anywhere else I move in Sonoma County. Low-income housing has a 1-6 year waiting list and I am not quite old enough for low-income senior housing. I have been sub-letting two rooms in the rental house for the past 10 years. While this has allowed me to have affordable rent, I paid a steep price emotionally. My safety and well-being were in jeopardy more than once, due to unstable roommates. I am actively looking for a mobile home in a local park, where I can buy the land and have the safety of close friends nearby. I will need a down payment, which is unreachable on my own at this time in life.

A NOTE FROM RICHELLE:

There are SO many people who are extremely deserving of this kind of community funding. There are beautiful stories all over this country of community funding changing and literally saving lives through their generosity. I was resistant to this idea for weeks while my friends and family continued to urge me to take the chance and do this. I’m realizing now how much I really do need your help. I am so grateful for the past 13 1/2 years in this house. It was a lot of work, a lot of stress and sometimes impossible for me to stay in my house with someone who was constantly harassing me. I did some couch-hopping for about 3 months. Although those were some scary times, there were a lot of really wonderful times. I hosted 8 potluck Open House Christmas parties and the memories are all very dear to my heart. It’s been a roller-coaster ride of sub-renters but I’ve grown and endured and I’m so grateful to have had this home and garage art studio for so many years. It’s time to move on.
With your generous donations, no matter how large or small, I have faith that with the help of my lender and my  real estate agent Karen Grotte, I will reach my goal and find the right mobile home for me and my little dog too.
