Help Rick Worth Recover!

To our friends in the Key West community and beyond:

Rick Worth, a beloved artist and wonderful human being, needs our help.

As you may have heard, on Sunday August 13th Rick suffered a major stroke and was airlifted to Miami where he remains hospitalized more than a week later. His condition appears stable and he’s been able to take a few steps (and sketch!), but it’s safe to say he has many grueling months of recovery and physical therapy ahead, with few prospects for income.

Over 35 years in Key West as an incredibly prolific painter, teacher and muralist, Rick has undoubtedly touched more lives here than any other artist. From murals all over town, to his signature shingle paintings, theater sets and festive art cars, it’s been said that Rick will paint anything that sits still long enough. At The Studios of Key West alone, he’s taught hundreds of classes and thousands of people, and was instrumental in the organization’s formative years. The gallery he founded, Three Legged Dog, helped launch the careers of many artists.

Like a number of Key West legends, Rick embodies the spirit of One Human Family, and often helps without question or expectation of anything in return. If you’ve spent any time with him, you know he’ll do anything to help someone out, whether they are an old friend or someone he’s just met. It’s time to return the favor.

We’re putting this fundraiser together to help our friend in his time of need. Please contribute what you can and let’s get Rick feeling good with a paint brush back in his hand. It’s what he would do for any of us.

*This campaign is being set up by The Studios of Key West with some of Rick’s close friends and advisors. 100% of any funds we receive will be passed to Rick for him to use for medical bills, rent, food, art supplies and other necessities, or to pay for those costs directly at his request. Gifts to the campaign, or made directly to The Studios for Rick’s benefit, are not tax deductible.
