Help Riley Fund Gender Affirming Care

We are seeking help and support to continue Riley’s journey of gender affirming care, top surgery.

After many years of therapy, self work and a very eye opening experience of starting a family, Riley came out as trans in June 2023. As scary as coming out was, Riley has been lifted up, accepted by most, and has felt the most liberated he has ever felt in his life. Living his most authentic self finally.

Riley now has been on hormone therapy for about 6 months, and is now looking to complete another step in his transition, top surgery. He has had his consultation, we are currently waiting for insurance authorization and a surgery date.

While this procedure is covered by our insurance, we have a high deductible plan which means we have a deductible that must be paid before things are covered. The other expense, since the state looks at this procedure as elective, Riley will not be able to file for disability meaning he will need to take leave from work without pay.

Recovering from surgery will be approximately 6 to 8 weeks, in which Riley cannot lift anything. Since we have a toddler, I also may need to take leave to help care for our son and care for Riley, which would mean I would not get a full paycheck either for those weeks. So we are looking for financial support for bills and other necessities during that time for our little family.
