Hi, my name is River Faith Goodfellow, I am turning 2 on July 17th. I live in Kelowna. I had been feeling really tired and was very pale, so my Mom took me to see the Doctor on June 22. They poked me to check my blood. The next few hours were a whirlwind of doctors and nurses and machines and beeps. A few hours later I was on an airplane with my Mom flying to the Vancouver Children’s hospital. The nice Doctors poked me again so many times, but I’m tough and very brave and strong. They gave me 5 transfusions in the first 2 days so they could then safely take out some of my bone marrow & do a lumbar puncture, in order to check it all under their microscopes. They told my family that I have Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia & that it will take 2-3 years with their help to be healed again. I had a port installed in my chest so they can give me medicine through it. The doctors gave me my first dose of chemotherapy medicine on June 28th. The port stopped working on June 29th, so they got me back in for emergency surgery and fixed it.

River is facing months of chemo and treatment in Vancouver with Mom(Frannie) at her side. Dad(DJ) will mostly be staying at home in Kelowna with River's brother Gavin and sister Emerie, so he can work as much as possible to continue paying the regular bills, as well as cover the extra expenses incurred, and especially those that are still to come from receiving treatment only available at a distance. Donating to this cause will help our family to have more peace of mind and availability to travel back & forth as we support our beautiful baby girl. She also has a strict meal plan & will need extra care as she currently has 0ANC which fights infection. Thank you so much for helping in our time of need. We will be posting updates via the Instagram group profile ri.ver24811 (This is how River counts to 10) The Goodfellows
