Help Robbie get Top Surgery

Donation protected
Hello,

My name is Robbie Burton Moore, and I am a 24 year old who loves making people smile and laugh. Because of this, I am an Actor and Drama facilitator who lives in London.

I came out as transgender (female to male) when I was 19, and was very fortunate to have the support of my friends and family. I have been medically transitioning for a number of years through the NHS, and have legally changed my name. I have been on testosterone hormone therapy treatment since December 2019, which has had a huge impact on my wellbeing and mental health. It has also had physical changes, which if you know me, you know I’m overjoyed with. Going from a soprano to a bass has really impacted my shower karaoke repertoire (for the better).

Unfortunately this journey is not without barriers. The first hurdle, after the long wait to get my initial appointment with the Gender Identity Clinic, was receiving my testosterone as they had prescribed. I had a huge challenge with my doctor’s at the time, not understanding my needs or the transition process. This is not uncommon for Trans people. I then moved doctors twice and had multiple cancelled hospital appointments, just to secure my testosterone. I am very grateful to have now been on it for over a year and to have found a Doctor who is very supportive.

Due to Covid 19, the already long waiting period and delays with the Gender Identity Clinic have been extended. The likelihood of the next step in my transition happening in the next 2 years is virtually non existent. I am overdue my consultation for top surgery. I feel that there are so many things I would like to do in my life that are inhibited by my current chest. I love to swim, but can’t, and miss being able to exercise regularly as wearing a sports bra makes me feel dysphoric. Simple things such as not having to wear a binder for the whole day would make a huge difference. Isn’t it everyone’s dream to look good and feel confident in a plain white tee?

Having my chest is holding me back. Even in the day to day, I struggle with self-esteem issues and dysphoria. I wish I could explain how it feels to have to wear something constrictive everyday just to feel comfortable in my own skin. To say that this surgery would be life-changing would be an epic understatement. I would be able to live fully and comfortably as who I am.

The NHS are overstretched and the wait time for this kind of surgery is immense. Because of this, I need to raise the funds to have this surgery at a private clinic. I can’t be held back in my life because of this anymore, and going private would drastically reduce the time it would take to have this life changing surgery. I need your help to make this surgery a possibility for me. I find it very hard to ask for help with things like this, and am so grateful to everyone who has supported me so far in my journey. If you could donate even a tiny amount, or share my page and story, I would appreciate it so much. Thank you for reading this and if all goes well, I will see you at the pool Summer 2022. *fingers crossed*

(If my eventual surgery price differs from what I have been quoted, and am fundraising for, any additional funds remaining will be donated to Mermaids UK, a charity supporting gender diverse kids, young people and their families).
