Help Robert Kick Cancers A$$
Donation protected
Hi, my name is George Coyne and I am fundraising for my oldest son, Robert. Robert has a serious form of rectal cancer and will be receiving chemo treatments that are sheduled every day for 3 months. He is still in the process of testing to have the complete diagnosis of what stage but based on the tests that have been done already he will need an aggressive treatment. Robert has no savings, as his work is seasonal and not guaranteed. He will not be able to work for at least those three months, possibly longer. He is going have surgery and likely a colostomy bag after completing this or any other cycles of his treatments. He does not not know what that will mean for his future income after treatment.
Robert is a kind-hearted person who loves his family, baking and fishing. He lives in very small world, with one or two casual friends, in a small apartment. He has been living on his own since he was 20 years old . His parents were separated when he was 10 years old and he spent his early years living sometime with his mother and sometimes with his father. His mother died when he was 15 years old and he and his brother moved in with his dad. He has not had an easy life but has always made the most of it. He left school at 16 and went to work with a friend that had a roofing business. He has spent most of his life doing roofing and light construction work, primarily for cash jobs. Having mostly worked cash jobs, if he were able to collect anything at all from disability it would be less than $100 a month. Since he won't be able to work for at least the next three months he will have no money for bills, rent, insurance and most importantly, not enough to pay for gas and tolls to get his treatments, which are in Monmouth County and he lives in Woodbridge. He is aleady a month behind on his rent and at serious risk of eviction and may be homeless in 60 days. He needs help and has really no where to turn.
We are working with him to get together paperwork for him to apply to Social Services, but this takes a great deal of time and documentation that he does not have. Once that is done you have to wait up to a month or more to get an appointment with them. We fear that he will lose his home through this process. The one place that brings him comfort. If you could please keep my son in your prayers and share his story. Any donations are truly appreciated.
