Help Rochelle and Archie through Chemo
I am fundraising for my amazing friend Rochelle and her sweet son Archie. Rochelle is a mother of 4, her youngest son is Archie. Rochelle and I work together at an assisted living facility for seniors where Rochelle is a rockstar!! Her whole life is dedicated to taking care of everyone around her, and now it's time for her to feel taken care of during this very difficult and trying time.
Rochelle's son, Archie, who is now 2 years old, was diagnosed with "X linked hyper IGM syndrome" at the early age of 6 months old. At 6 months old in Randall's Children's hospital, Archie battled pneumocystis pneumonia in both lungs and rubella virus. For six months, until Archie was about a year old, Rochelle and her family traveled back forth every 3 weeks for routine infusions, preventive medications, and testing . Archie's whole life has been about keeping him healthy and limiting exposures to people, viruses, and every day activities that a healthy 3 year old should be able to enjoy. Archie's home must be pet and plant free, he can't go to the park, no swimming, limited bath times, and only filtered water. Archie has never even been shopping!
Rochelle and Archie will be headed to Seattle this month to begin what we hope will be the start of Archie's new life! This month, Archie will begin testing and blood draws as a prerequisite to Archie's chemo which should start around the 17th of August. Donor cells and transplant will hopefully occur August 24. It will take 28 days ( September 13) to determine whether or not Archie's body has successfully accepted his transplant of marrow. If all goes well, it will take a full year of recovering before Archie will hopefully be able to begin to enjoy a "normal" life....and possibly a happy 4th birthday party with friends, family, and loved ones! So as you can see, the next few month's in my friend's life are going to be very critical and difficult. For the next year, Rochelle and Archie will be in warrior mode!
Rochelle has taken a leave of absence from work in order to focus on Archie's upcoming journey. During this time, Rochelle wont be able to see her other 3 children as it poses a risk to Archie's success. She will also still be faced with living expenses, rent, utility bills, storage, car payment and insurance, food, personal needs, and daily living expenses, and of course medical expenses. Please support this my beautiful friend and her family by donating what you can. Updates will be posted. Let's Go Archie! You got this!
