Help Rocky Bar Farm Rebuild
Donation protected
On December 9, a massive fire destroyed the 100+ year-old barn that was the main building of Rocky Bar Farm. Thankfully, no one was injured but the barn and everything inside was completely obliterated. Rocky Bar was in the middle of its Christmas tree season.
This tree and pumpkin farm has been owned and operated by the Maikish father/daughter duo, Ed and Erika, since 2006. A Bronx native, Ed had always dreamed of living and working on a farm. In his retirement, he made this dream a reality. And it was truly a perfect fit as he looks more and more like Santa with each year.
Those who have so kindly given us their patronage will know that we have put a lot of hard work and effort into transforming our barn into more than just storage. Our Christmas shop:
And recently, a Halloween shop:
This fire is yet another devasting blow for the Maikish family in 2021. Erika was hospitalized with Guillain-Barré Syndrome in June, paralyzed from her shoulders down. It took 10 weeks before she could home, and she is still not fully healed. These two events in such short succession have taken its toll on the Maikish family.
Please consider donating to help Rocky Bar rebuild. The debris will need to be cleared. A new shop and storage will need to be built. Equipment will need to be replaced - we lost a quad, multiple tractors, brushhogs, and more. Christmas and Halloween decorations and ornaments will need to be purchased. While we have insurance, it is still unclear at this time what will be covered.
Any help is appreciated and we hope to see you for Christmas in 2022.
Sincerely,
Erika and Ed
