Help Rod Beat Colon Cancer
Not sure exactly how to do this or where to start but here we go. Our friends that have become more like family have come up against a large obstacle. On November 14th while Rod and his wife Ticia (Belle) were visiting us, Rod was thought to have a kidney stone but then began suffering with night sweats and fevers well over 100 along with his belly pain. That Saturday night, Michael took Rod to the emergency room to get evaluated. Preliminary tests showed that he had diverticulitis, a 7-8mm kidney stone and a spot on his liver. They admitted him at St Clair Hospital with the intention of more testing.
On Monday the 16th they did a colonoscopy and discovered not only diverticulitis but a tumor in his colon believed to be malignant. Rod was then sent to radiology and a CT scan on his abdomen found an abscess on his liver which was treated with IV antibiotics and insertion of a drainage tube. In that same day they inserted a stent in his left ureter to help with blockage caused by the stone and a catheter to assist in the excessive fluids from the IV. That Thursday they released him to go home to regain strength for his surgery on Wednesday the 25th, at which time they crushed the kidney stone, removed the stent, then removed the tumor in his sigmoid colon along with 36 lymph nodes and blood vessels. Oncology is being called in due to the cancerous nature of the tumor. It spread into one of the lymph node so chemotherapy is being considered in order to halt any new growth.
Rod, a husband of 27 years, father of 3 and grandfather of 5 is an interior remodeling contractor that has been the primary financial support for his family. He owns a small business which has been exceptionally difficult, as it has for many, with the COVID-19 pandemic. Rod will be out of work until the first of the year or longer. Not having an income coming in plus not knowing how many medical bills he'll be inundated with is a burden I do not want Rod and Ticia (Belle) to stress about. Rod is too proud (and stubborn) to ask for help so we are asking for them. Anything you can give is much appreciated. And if you're unable to support monetarily, the gift of positive energy and prayer is always welcomed.
Thank you all
