Help Ron & Val Buy Alpha & Omega Bookstore

Hi, we're Ronald & Valery Sykes, and we're reaching out to our incredible community and fellow believers to partner with us for a heartfelt goal.

Alpha & Omega Parable Christian Store has been a part of the Rochester community for over 50 years. From the beginning, Alpha & Omega hasn't just been a store, it's been a place of ministry serving Churches and the Christian community by providing resources to deepen and strengthen their faith. Currently, it's the only public Christian bookstore in western New York.

After 25 years of stewardship, the current owners, Bruce & Cindy Anderson, are passing the torch. Ron & I believe we're the ones to run the next leg of this race.

I have always desired to own a bookstore. Reading has always been an integral part of my life, and it has been a dream of mine to own a store where others can gather around books and the potential they have to change our lives. Last summer, I saw a post on Facebook that the Andersons were looking for someone to take over the store as they retired. Alpha & Omega has played a significant role in shaping my Christian journey, and so, I immediately reached out to Bruce for more information.

If I'm really honest, I didn't actually expect it to go anywhere. My word of the year for 2023 was "JUMP" and I just wanted to be obedient.

I walked out of that first meeting buzzing with possibility, and, since then, Ron & I have been taking one step after another on what feels like an absolutely divine-ordained, incredible journey.

From the beginning, I've felt like we should pursue creative financing and talk to others about partnering with us in this amazing story. I lost touch with that though and went the "traditional" route. When our original closing date was delayed, I realized I needed to reconnect with inviting other people into this endeavor.

The amount listed above is our BIG goal. The number that means we don't have to involve the bank at all. But every milestone we reach on the way to that enables us to start off as owners in a stronger position.

We have a huge vision for Alpha & Omega to build on everything it's been before. We see it as not just a place of commerce, but a vibrant community hub. We envision a store that continues to provide a wide selection of Christian books, gifts, and resources, but also a place for events, gatherings, and spiritual growth.
