Help Ronald and Lynda After Losing Home to LA Fire

A Truly Good and Principled Man loses home of 40+ years

My name is Jim Goalen. I live in Los Angeles and I have known Ronald Dunlap for over forty-four years as a work colleague, an artist, and a valued friend. A man of few words but much integrity, he did say that he learned in his military service, “that in a firefight you got into a circle and your job was to protect the person behind you.” He has always lived by that principle. He has certainly always had my back. If the job needed an all-nighter, he was always there and making sure it was done right.

When his wife, Lynda Meyer, suffered a debilitating aneurysm 10 years ago, he gave up his company to be her full-time caregiver. His only income was Social Security and the occasional sale of his art; his only investment was his home. He did it for love and duty. That is the way he did everything in his life, whether it was his work,

his art, his friends, or his family. You don’t meet a lot of people like that, and you certainly feel blessed to have them as a close friend. I feel blessed because of Ronald, and my day is much better when I see him.

On January seventh, Ronald and Lynda lost their home and nest egg of over thirty-five years to the Eaton fire in Los Angeles. I am devastated, though I cannot even imagine how he feels, that a person of such character and integrity can be hurt like this.

When I saw these pictures, all I could think about all day was what can I do to help. Someone suggested a GoFundMe page, which I know nothing about. When I looked at their homepage, I was so grateful that other victims of this tragedy were getting help. So here I am.

Of course, I cannot afford or provide emotionally all that they need, and he would not ask for help. So I am asking for your help to help me help them. Although financial support is so important, the emotional support that people care is just as important.

The funds will go to supplement cost not reimbursed by Insurance or FEMA funds:

Although the amount I am trying to raise is nowhere near the amount they will need to put their lives back together, it will certainly give them a start. I also personally guarantee that all funds will be used exclusively to help them in this critical time of need.

We will also be working to put on a show here in Los Angeles to exhibit his work to raise additional funds. So we are looking for help with that.

I sincerely hope you never have to do this for any of your friends.
