Let’s Celebrate Ronnie Long’s New Life!

I am raising money for my husband, Ronnie Long.
Ronnie Long was wrongfully imprisoned by the State of North Carolina from May 10, 1976, until August 27, 2020. He was freed on my birthday!
The State of North Carolina stole 44 years, 3 months & 17 days from Ronnie Long. Ronnie was just 20 years old when he went into prison. He was freed just before his 65th birthday.
Ronnie lost both of his parents during his wrongful incarceration with his mother dying just weeks before he was freed. Her dying words were asking if Ronnie was home. Ronnie also lost his grandmother, all but one of his sisters & many friends during his wrongful incarceration.
On December 17, 2020, NC Governor Roy Cooper granted Ronnie a full pardon of innocence & he received the $750,000 from that pardon. The money from the pardon is NOT compensation for his wrongful incarceration. That money is to help Ronnie get back on his feet after 44 years of wrongful imprisonment. $750,000 is a lot of money but it's also not a lot of money considering the circumstances. Ronnie's medical needs have been neglected for 44 years, he's missed out on working & earning a 401K & he was freed at the age that most retire at. Ronnie should never have to work a day in his life. Due to the severe neglect he endured on his physical, mental & emotional health, he can't hold a job or do many of the daily tasks we all take for granted.
None of us can even begin to imagine the suffering Ronnie had to endure 24/7 for 44 years.
Ronnie wants to experience life now that he is free so let's all help him to be able to enjoy his life as a free man.
Ronnie's attorneys have filed a federal civil rights lawsuit on his behalf but that process can take YEARS as the parties can try to drag it along in hopes that it will eventually be dropped. Compensation is NOT guaranteed, even though we all agree it should be & again, the process takes YEARS. Ronnie has already suffered for 44 years, 3 months & 17 days.
ANY amount is greatly appreciated & goes directly to Ronnie, minus the GoFundMe fees.
*I set up a Welcome Home GoFundMe the day before Ronnie was freed (08/26/2020) & kept it up for the entire 1st year of Ronnie's freedom. $67,005 was raised.
