Help Aurora Get a Life-Saving Kidney Transplant
Donation protected
Aurora is a 9 year old, sweet little girl, who needs a lifesaving kidney transplant.
In September, Aurora became very ill and was taken by helicopter to OU Children’s Hospital for an emergency dialysis port surgery and blood transfusion. They determined she was in End Stage Renal Disease which meant she was in complete kidney failure and would need a kidney transplant. Pediatric kidney transplants are very rare, only about 10 a year are done in Oklahoma. After months of testing, it was discovered that she has an extremely rare genetic mutation that led to her kidney failure. Her chance of this condition was less than 1 in a million.
Aurora has been traveling from Tulsa to Oklahoma City 3+ times a week for dialysis and tests since her diagnosis. She has seen almost every specialist in the children’s hospital because her genetic mutation can lead to issues in other areas of the body as well. Finally, she has been cleared to go ahead with the kidney transplant from all the doctors. In February, her father will be donating his own kidney to her!
Aurora will be hospitalized several weeks for her kidney transplant and her family will need to stay in OKC for several additional weeks of recovery time.
The family is very grateful for all of the love and support they have received during this time. They are grateful for the medical care and that the kidney transplant is scheduled. However, this has been big financial burden to the family. Any support, whether financially or your prayers, would be greatly appreciated.
