SIDS - HELP RORY’S FAMILY WITH HIS FUNERAL COSTS

On Tuesday 10th August 2021, our beautiful baby boy Rory Sinclair, was born into the world. The birth of Rory went better than we all could have ever imagined. As many of you would agree, there are no words to describe the feeling you get, the moment you lay eyes on your precious, newborn baby. And the unconditional love you instantly have for that tiny human being, that you have prepared to spend the rest of your life with.

Both Rory and his mummy were discharged from the hospital the same day of his birth, despite Rory’s mummy requesting for him to stay in and continue to be monitored over night (considering he was born at only 4 pounds), they was given reassurance that he was fit and healthy enough to go home. Rory’s mummy trusted the advice given to her, just as any mother would, and returned home after being confidently told by doctors who deliver and assess thousands of babies daily that it is safe for you to go home with your child. They arrived home, settled in and shared a magical evening together. Rory’s loved ones sat by his side, and stared at him for hours on end.

At 12:00am, Rory’s mummy put him down to sleep as he was due another feed at 3:00am. Everything seemed perfectly normal. Before she knew it, her mothers instinct kicked in as it was time for Rory’s next bottle. It was at that moment, that Rory’s mummy’s life flashed before her eyes. Her precious baby boy was unresponsive, he made no movement, no noise. His beautiful skin was already pale and lifeless.

Rory’s mummy immediately jumped out of bed, grabbed him and screamed for the help of her parents next door. They ran straight in. Rory’s nanny instantly grabbed him, and began to carry out CPR on his little body, whilst his grandad called an ambulance.

The ambulance arrived, and they continued to try and resuscitate Rory. But after trying everything they possibly could, they soon pronounced Rory dead in the early hours of Wednesday 11th August 2021.

After countless weeks of living with the unknown death of our beautiful boy, we received Rory’s results back. It was believed that Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) was the cause of his death. We was left with soo many unanswered questions. This result brought us no peace of mind. However, the one thing that was confirmed during the investigation being carried out at the hospital that Rory was born in, is that he should have never been sent home and could still be alive today had that been different.

No one can possibly be prepared for the death of an infant and, understandably, the family of baby Rory are distraught. They also face the daunting costs associated with his funeral expenses. After being informed of costs of the funeral, I’ve started a Go Fund Me page for them. If you are in a position to contribute, your help will be greatly appreciated. The money will go towards the funeral costs and headstone.
