Help Rosco Pico Train heal from a Pitbull attack

Donation protected

HI!

We are Richelle and Scott Lacey~ we are fundraising for our unexpected medical bills to save our beloved cat Rosco Pico Train.

On Monday, May 31, 2021, Memorial Day, our beloved cat Rosco got attacked by 2 stray Pitbulls in our backyard. Yes! I did say in our backyard.

The dogs pushed through our gate and came into our backyard. Scott saw them from inside the house, ran outside, and was able to fight the dogs off as Rosco also fought for his life. I was able to assist in herding the dogs out of our yard and ran to get to Rosco. Panting heavily Rosco appeared to be ok until I got him into the house, found a puncture wound that was significantly bleeding, he let me clean it a little but then jumped off the counter and could not walk.

We rushed him to the Vet Hospital where he had to have exploratory surgery later that night... BEST decision we made! The Vet found that Rosco's spleen had been torn completely in half and had to be removed. The Vet also found extensive muscle and ligament damage to his back legs, she repaired them as best she could. At midnight we got a call that Rosco had made it through surgery but his condition was unpredictable and unstable at that time.

Rosco stayed in the hospital for two nights and came home on 2 different pain medications plus an appetite enhancer because he was not eating. The Vet thought that it be best that Rosco come home in hopes that he would start eating... he finally did Friday morning. I have been lovingly tending to him ever since his hospital release.

Rosco is going to survive and at seems like he is going to make a pretty good recovery. His back legs and surgery incision continue to mend and he is walking a bit, out of the cage for food, and soliciting love from his humans. At this time his full range is being very restricted for healing purposes... unsure if he will be able to jump or climb once he is fully recovered.

Rosco is a feral cat. He has been living with us for 7 years, the first 3 years he lived on our property no one could touch him. He would cruise the perimeter of our yard and would accept the food offerings and makeshift shelters but would stay about 6 feet away from people. One day he rubbed against my leg and I internally flipped with joy while showing my calm externally as I slowly reached down and pet his tail~ that was the first day I had was granted the privilege of touching Rosco.

Rosco and I's relationship has continued to bloom. He is now a lap cat and loves to snuggle on the couch. He LOVES to be pet for hours by Scott or Me... he is still very leery of other people. Rosco has become my therapy cat~ helping me through a back injury, anxiety, depression, the pandemic, and an epic life change of career~ Rosco has been lovingly by my side through it all. Rosco and my relationship is a once in a lifetime love affair. I am SSSSOOOOOO blessed to be able to continue life with him in it!!!

Your gracious donation will be used to pay the hospital and medical bills, medication costs, and follow up care for Rosco's attack. As we are still in the middle of the healing and care cycle we are unsure of bills that may be coming in the future. If we raise more money than we need to pay for Rosco's care, we will donate the balance to an animal charity or no kill shelter for cats here in Sacramento.

Scott and I truly appreciate your donation from our animal loving hearts to yours. We have nothing but gratitude for your kindness and assistance in this difficult time. Thank You! Thank You!! Thank You!!!
