Help Rose Rebuild After Devastating Flood

If you have not yet heard, our dear friend Rose lost everything on July 10th when her apartment building was entirely and suddenly swept away by flood waters. The ‘Heartbreak Hotel,’ a fixture of the Plainfield community for years, was a hugely important historic building and housing resource for the community and it was Rose’s and 11 others’ home.

In March of this year, Rose moved to Vermont seeking a safe and stable home and community. She has been so happy to have made this huge and courageous change. She found a wonderful job working for a worker co-op timber framing company and she scored a sweet apartment overlooking a beautiful brook with a bunch of kind and generous neighbors in Plainfield Village.

This flood took everything from Rose and the other residents of the Heartbreak Hotel. She lost her family recipe book, precious items that her grandmother left her, art and decorations given to her by friends and partners, her banjo, clothes, cooking and camping equipment, and all of her furniture. Her car keys were lost and her car was flooded.

In addition to finding a new place to live, Rose will have to replace her car, all of her household items, furniture, clothing, etc. If you are able and feel called to help financially, we would appreciate any amount.
