Help Rose Salangad Fight COVID-19

Last week, Norby and Rose Salangad did not know they were infected with COVID-19. When they arrived at the public hospital, every room and bed in the hospital were already filled due to the pandemic greatly affecting the Philippines. But by the goodness of the Director of the hospital, they were able to accommodate them. As their condition was not improving,  they were advised to transfer to a private hospital that is more equipped and has specialists that can further evaluate and manage them.Through the kindness of friends, Norby and Rose were able to go to a private hospital. Rose took care of Norby daily despite her illness. Rose is a loving wife, mother, and aunt and couldn’t bear to let her husband suffer without her by his side. As Rose helped nurse Norby back to health, their daughters and son saw him in his final moments smiling and waving on the phone, until he suddenly passed away a day later. Rose, still sick with COVID-19 and now pneumonia as well allowed him to pass away in her arms.

Now dealing with her heartache, coronavirus, and pneumonia, Rose’s medical bills are piling up each day. Rose has only been in the private hospital for two days and her medical bills are already at 150,000 Philippine Pesos (USD 3,141) and are growing even further each day as her bills not only include antiviral medication and antibiotics, but also the cost of doctors’ and nurses’ PPE. To make matters worse, everything MUST be paid out of pocket because Rose’s public insurance by Philippines Health (PhilHealth) is not accepted because a clerical error by PhilHealth has listed Rose as deceased. Please help Rose fight COVID-19. She is the priority of her children, but they need every helping hand they can get to take care of Rose. Thank you.
