Help Roughage Eatery

Hi my name is Candice and I am one of the owners of Roughage Eatery. This is not how we wanted to celebrate our 4 year anniversary at 126 Sherbrook street but unfortunately we are being forced to re-locate.

We knew this day would come, however we did not know it would be so abrupt. We are being forced to leave as there is no working furnace. Also not to mention our oven stopped working again for the fourth time in 2 years.

Starting today Wednesday, November 1st, you can still stop by and purchase sandwiches and fridge items to go. But our dining room will be closed as it is too cold.

We are currently looking for a new location but until then we need your help. Please help us continue to be Winnipeg’s only queer, woman owned, all vegan restaurant. Help us continue to cultivate a safe space fellow BIPOC and 2SLGBTQIA+ folks and for everyone who wants to eat good food, that just happens to be vegan.

This is not a good bye, we are not stopping BUT we need some help to find a new place. To all our wholesale folks we will still keep you stocked with our Cheezes and Seitans.

We started Roughage Eatery six years ago as a vegan place for great comfort food. Our roots are catering and slinging delicious vegan eats at markets. After two years we opened a small brick and mortar restaurant. Just a few months after opening our doors (September 2019) the pandemic hit and we were forced to modify how we operated, again. You supported us during the pandemic, and we made it through! (Not without plenty of hiccups along the way). that time we were too small and too new of a business to accept any loans and or apply for any grants. Despite our continued misfortunes we have continued to operate. Due to ever rising costs of food, labor shortage in the industry and inflation in general, we are reaching out for help. We are starting a go fund me page so we can save up to get new equipment, ensure our staff is paid until our re-location, first and last months rent for new location. We want to ensure that we are back and stocking our quality cheezes, seitans and meals for you folks to enjoy.

We are forever thankful for your support throughout the past 4 years, and we are incredibly thankful for your consideration now.
