Support Roux’s Gender-Affirming Tracheal Shave Surgery

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Roux, I'm 23, and male-to-female transgender. I've been on Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) for over 2 years as a result of intense gender dysphoria. Being on hormones has helped to alleviate a lot of the hardships of being trans by making me feel more comfortable in my body. I don’t think I’d be alive today without it. Please read this article.

However, HRT doesn't fix everything. One of my biggest dysphoria triggers is the size/existence of my Adam's Apple; something which HRT has no effect on. The only way to reduce the size of an Adam's Apple is to undergo a procedure called a 'tracheal shave'. I have linked a short video below which explains the process.

Breakdown of costs

Surgery Fees – £4,000
This covers the actual cost of the surgery, including the surgeon's fees, operating theatre, and all medical supplies. Based on my research, the cost of this procedure can vary depending on the clinic. I’m most likely looking at a clinic in London where surgeons specialise in tracheal shave surgery.

Hospital Stay & Aftercare – £300
After the surgery, I'll need to stay in the hospital for a short period for monitoring and recovery. This includes the cost of the hospital bed, post-op care, and any necessary medications like painkillers.

Consultation & Follow-ups – £200
Before the surgery, I’ll need to attend an initial consultation to discuss the details of the procedure and make sure it’s right for me. After the surgery, there will be follow-up appointments to monitor my recovery, which is crucial to ensuring proper healing.

Travel & Accommodation – £300
I’ll need to travel to London for the surgery. I’ve budgeted around £300 for transport and a couple of nights of accommodation near the clinic.

It has never been a case of whether or not I want this surgery, instead, it's simply a case of not having the funds to do so. Unfortunately, this surgery (and most life-saving gender-affirming care) is not offered by the extremely underfunded and inadequate NHS gender services and so I decided to start a fundraiser. Any amount that you can donate is really really appreciated but please don't worry if you can't and instead just share this on social media n stuff:) Thank you for reading<3
