Help Roxanne fight breast cancer

We are making this fundraiser for our mom, Roxanne.

If you know her, you know her as a gift-giving, bird-loving, master of the kitchen, and the person who puts everyone before herself.

At the end of October 2023, one week before starting her new job she went for an annual mammogram. After undergoing more testing, biopsies, and MRIs we received the news you never want to hear, cancer. She was diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer; a rare, aggressive, and invasive type of cancer.

Although she LOVES her new job and appreciates her supportive coworkers, she is working for a nonprofit organization where she isn’t offered any benefits until she hits her 3-month employment mark. Her surgery and upcoming hospital stay are all happening before that 3-month mark. (My mom asked her oncology team if she could push out her surgery and treatment until she could receive full benefits and they highly advised against it since her cancer is aggressive.)

In the midst of all this, our grandmother (my mom's mom) moved into my parent's house this past summer due to her declining health and need for 24/7 care. My mother has taken care of my grandmother for her entire adult life. Although it was an extremely heartbreaking decision, the smartest choice was to place our grandmother in a nursing home.

My mom is living in the moment as best she can, but preparing for her surgery on Friday, 1/19. She will have a double mastectomy, followed by aggressive chemotherapy. We (her daughters and husband) are all strategically taking time off of work to get her back to 100%, but it will be a long hard, and financially burdening fight. We will remain optimistic and stand by her side through it all.

She is our source of strength and support, and we owe it back to her now.

We are looking forward to the future. With the support of caring coworkers, loving family, and friends, she is ready to kick cancer’s ass.
