Help Roxxie Fight Chronic Illness

-- updates at the bottom --

My partner and I are first-time pet owners. We've recently adopted a cat, Roxxie, and already she's completely changed our lives. She's 5, and according to the shelter, she was surrendered after her previous owner was put in a nursing home. She has a cute nub for an ear and a little old lady meow.

Unfortunately, after taking her to the vet last week, we learned that she's very sick. She's anemic and has chronic pancreatitis, which leads to fatigue and not wanting to eat, on top of jaundice. We were given medication and vitamins to give to her, but after sending our vet a progress picture last night, we were told she's getting worse and we need to take her in again soon.
The procedure is looking like ultrasounds and day-long intravenous medicine and vitamins and whatever else she will need. We were quoted $300.

We knew going into adopting a cat that it'd be expensive, but we didn't account for grave health issues so soon. We're unable to afford treatments like this and still afford rent and food and the other things we need to survive. Despite how short of a time we've had her, she's managed to help tremendously in keeping me afloat in one of the darkest times of my life, which is still ongoing. I don't know what I'd do if I lost her. If we lost her.

We need help. The goal right now, as of10/01/2024, is $300. Anything beyond that will be put towards any future vet appointments and prescriptions, as what the vet thinks she has is going to be lifetime and not something that can be necessarily cured.

Thank you for every bit of help. It will mean the world to us and to Roxxie.

----- Same Day -----

We've hit our $300 goal, but with the possibility of something as serious as cancer (something our vet specifically told us not to rule out), we're keeping the fundraiser open and raising the goal to $500. Thank you for everyone who's donated so far, it means the world to our baby Roxxie.

----- 10 pm. ---

We've hit our $500 goal, and as things develop I'm gonna keep the goal to $1000 in order to keep funds aside for Roxxie.
Thank you again, and this final goal isn't something I'm expecting to necessarily hit. It'll be put aside for emergencies in the future.

----- 10/02/2024 -----

Today, we took Roxxie to the vet hospital to be treated over the course of the day and to get her imaging and such done. They found that her skin was in a healthier condition today, which is good; however they found two things in imaging that'll be a concern.
One is that she's apparently pretty severely arthritic, and will be sent home with pain medication today to help with it. Our vet said that it is either from an injury she had when she was younger, or that she's actually older than we were told at the shelter we adopted her from; specifically in the 10-12 range, making her a senior kitty.
The other thing is something they don't have the capability to test themselves at this hospital, which is something being wrong with her liver and/or pancreas that they can't quite get a good image of.

We will either need to be sent home with the medication needed to just treat her for now, or be sent to a specialist; which will be probably much more expensive, but cancer still isn't something our vet is ruling out yet.

With that being said, the fundraiser will remain open until we have answers and can know for sure a solid explanation to her issues.

The new goal will be set to $1,500, in order to be able to afford a biopsy to determine the type of cells make up the masses found in her liver and pancreas.

Thank you again for all who have helped Roxxie so far.
