Help Ruben re-build his life.
Hello World, I’m composing this campaign for a good man and a good friend. Ruben Lupio is a biker with a heart of gold, a Harley enthusiast, a Veteran of a tour in Iraq, a family man, a passionate Raiders fan ( we all have our faults) and a hard working provider for his family!
On Friday night, on the Eve of Memorial Day weekend Ruben got a call from his daughter informing him that she had been in a relatively minor car accident. Ruben, being a good father and a protector immediately got out of bed and onto his beloved Harley and set out to go assist his daughter! Sadly, Ruben never made it to his daughters side and that may have been the last bike ride Ruben ever takes.
As of this writing, I am personally still in shock and the details are still coming in from different sources. But the basic facts are that Ruben was struck by a hit and run driver who left Rubens broken body and bike on the street as they sped away! Ruben was airlifted to HarborView Hospital in Seattle where he is being treated. Rubens pelvis is shattered and he has lost his left leg above the knee. He is awake now and aware of his situation and amazingly in good spirits, though heavily medicated so he has yet actually process his new situation.
Ruben works with my company here in WA state. He’s a great team member and a hard workinghombre! He’s on the “ wrong side of 50” but worked circles around guys 1/2 his age! The injuries Ruben sustained in Friday nights hit & run are deveststing and life changing! He’s got a long and painful recovery ahead of him and he is going to need to learn to walk again and get fitted for a prosthetic and it’s pretty clear and indisputable at this point that the profession he enjoyed and excelled at for years, delivering and installing heavy duty household appliances, is no longer goingto be an option for him.
Ruben has good friends and family and he’s a Vet and a patriot. His circle will rally around him and help him the best we can but the fact is that Ruben is the bread winner for his family and as an independent contractor he doesn’t have too many, if any financial safety nets in place. His recovery and his new life is going to require funding and I’m putting this call out to compassionate minded people to help a decent hard working man on his road to recovery! As his employer I feel helpless! I will be a contributor to his cause but I wish I could do more and this Go Fund Me campaign is the only realistic option I have to make a significant positive impact on Rubens recovery!
Ruben is a charitable man and has supported causes and proudly sports a breast cancer awareness pin in his Biker vest. He has given so now let’s show him that Charity goes both ways!
