Help Ruby Afford a New Flute!
Donation protected
Currently I am a senior at The Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts (CAPA). I am in the midst of my college audition process and am raising funds for a flute that fits my needs as a performance major. Learning the music and practicing daily is just part of the preparation, the instrument itself is essential as well.
Affording any new instrument can be very difficult as they are notoriously expensive. As a growing musician I have had three different flutes each one has helped me further my musical career. I’ve been so fortunate to have organizations like Project 440, PMAY, Ellis Trust and the All-City Fellowship, that provide me and many other students with financial assistance as well as education and mentorship. Although I am part of amazing organizations who support me I am looking to you all, my network of family and friends, to help me afford a flute that enhances my musical skills and a piccolo which I performed with for the first time during All City 2018.
This year I won the All City Concerto Competition which gives me the opportunity to play the Chaminade Concertino with the all city orchestra. Additionally, I have been recognized for my dedication to music through a $2,600 scholarship offered through the School District Office of Music Education which I will be investing in my new flute.
Attached below are two performance videos, one from a performance at the Kinhaven Music School and the other a studio recital at Settlement Music School.
