Help Ruby Get On Her Feet

Ruby is in dire need of financial help from us as she recovers from multiple surgeries and makes her way to getting healthy.

 

Ruby, who is a licensed therapist, has spent the last 20+ years providing recovery and mental health therapy to women in a residential drug treatment program called the Hope House which is located in Redwood City. For those of us who have gone through the Hope House program, Ruby is very much a second mom to us as she listened to us, helped us learn how to regulate our emotions the way adults are supposed to, and taught us healthy coping skills to replace the harmful ones we'd been using.

 

Earlier this year, Ruby's health dramatically declined in a short period of time and she was hospitalized. This past year she has had several surgeries in order to save her life. She developed a serious infection in the process and even went into liver and kidney failure. She then developed a blood clot and required a stint in her right femoral artery. Her doctors were not sure that she was going to survive, but miraculously, she did. As she tried to recover from her surgeries, she experienced multiple complications and malnourishment. It soon became clear that she needed a final surgery and it was a success.

 

We are so incredibly grateful that Ruby has survived all of this, is regaining her strength, and has a chance at a normal life. These past 8 months have been very financially draining for Ruby, as she exhausted all of her financial resources. She has applied for disability, but it has not yet gone into effect. While she gets that worked out, she needs support for food, utilities, etc. Ruby is anxious to get back to working with women who need her. We are raising $5,000 for her for the following:

 

$3,000- Utilities and bills in arrears

$2,000- Food and living expenses for 3 months
