Help Ryan Brandle Beat Cancer

Hello everyone and thank you for taking a second to visit Ryan’s Cancer Recovery Fund. Unfortunately, he failed a work physical last August and hasn’t been able to work since then. The even more unfortunate thing is that he failed the physical ultimately because, as it turns out, he has cancer. After 6 months of intense radiation and chemo, he is finally finished with treatment and now has to wait another 6 months while we hope he makes it into remission. 

 

The Good News: doctors and Ryan believe that he has a real shot at making a full recovery.

The Bad News: Ryan cannot go back to work until he is in remission, and over a year without income has put him in a very, very rough place. So, I decided to launch this GoFundMe so that those of us who know and love him, and those of us who have seen how awful cancer can be on people under our nation’s current healthcare system can try to make the burden a little less during the worst possible part of fighting for his life. Here’s what we want to cover as soon as possible:

 

-Medical insurance, doctor, hospital and medicine co-pays, transportation to/from clinic, therapies for treatment (testosterone replacement therapy, cryogenic preservation, & more).

-Housing Expenses – Ryan has worked his whole life to be able to afford a home. His condo has a mortgage that was unfortunately forced into forbearance of $8,000 and will likely be another $12,000 behind before he can even go back to work full time.

-Peace of Mind – This is essential for his recovery. Worrying about how you're going to eat is not how you get better.

 

Please know that Ryan is trying to stabilize his situation by working part-time as he is able (e.g., task rabbit, as well as actually selling his belongings), but his body has been wracked by some of the most intense radiation and chemotherapy I’ve ever heard of, and a huge amount of stress right now is a direct threat to his body’s ability to recuperate.

 

Ryan is absolutely intent on beating cancer. When I went to Miami to check on him in December, he was the most positive, determined, genuine, and thoughtful version of himself that I have ever seen in the 29+ years that I’ve known him.
