Dear Operation Gratitude,
I hope this letter finds you well. My name is Ryan Dannels, and I was a firefighter/Paramedic for 10 years, and I am currently receiving substance abuse and mental health treatment at Warriors Heart for job related PTSD. Almost instantly after my arrival on May 4, 2024, I formed a deep bond with Bob, one of Warriors Heart's beloved four-legged companions. Despite the short time I have been here, and amidst my training and counseling sessions, I have had the pleasure of strengthening my relationship with Bob by visiting him every chance I get.
I am writing to express my deep and sincere desire to give Bob a fur-ever home. I am aware that service dogs like Bob provide invaluable support to individuals facing various challenges, and I am reaching out in the hope that you might consider gifting Bob to me.
For several years, I have been struggling with maintaining my sobriety, controlling my anxiety, and managing symptoms of PTSD. These conditions have made daily life incredibly challenging, often leaving me feeling isolated and overwhelmed. However, I am committed to my recovery journey and to building a healthier, more positive life for myself.
The companionship and assistance of a service dog like Bob would make an extraordinary difference in my life. Service dogs are known to offer both practical and emotional support, and I am confident that Bob's presence would help me in several crucial ways:
1. Remaining Sober: The unconditional love and companionship of a service dog is known to provide emotional stability and reduce the feelings of loneliness and stress that often trigger relapses. Bob's companionship would be a constant reminder of my commitment to sobriety and provide the emotional support needed to stay on track.
2. Controlling Anxiety and PTSD: Service dogs are trained to recognize and respond to signs of anxiety and PTSD, providing a calming presence that can prevent or mitigate panic attacks and other symptoms. Bob's training would enable him to help me navigate stressful situations, ensuring I remain grounded and secure.
3. Positive Outlook on Life: The daily responsibilities and interactions that come with caring for a service dog foster a sense of purpose and routine. Bob would encourage me to engage more with the world, participate in regular activities, and ultimately improve my overall mental health and well-being.
Unfortunately, due to financial constraints, I am unable to afford the outright purchase of Bob. As much as I would love to welcome him into my home, the cost associated with acquiring a service dog is beyond my current means. This is why I am humbly requesting that Bob be gifted to me.
I am fully prepared to provide Bob with a loving, stable, and nurturing environment. In return, I believe Bob will help me regain control of my life, providing the support and companionship I need to thrive.
Thank you very much for considering my request. I am more than willing to provide any additional information or documentation you may need to support my case. Your generosity could profoundly impact my life, giving me the strength and stability to continue my journey towards a healthier sober future.
Very Respectfully,
Ryan Dannels
