Help Ryan Hartung-hit while riding his motorcycle

Donation protected
Here is the story of my cousin, a happy-go-lucky, Gen-X'er, named Ryan Hartung, 42 yoa. Ryan was born in the hills of Maine. His father taught him at a young age the love of the outdoors and introduced him to all the "outdoor" toys. Ryan's favorite was the motorcycle, and he's been riding ever since he could, like his father and uncles.

In his 20's Ryan wanted to leave his country living in Maine to see what else the world had to offer, settling in Houston, TX. Here the weather would be warm and he surely could ride his motorcycle more often.

While in Texas, he met Lacretta, and fell in love. Later he would marry her and raise her two children like his own.

Fast forward to the present time, 2/15/23. Ryan is out riding his motorcycle in the hot Texas sun, as he has so many times before when a female driver t-boned him. Ryan was rushed to the hospital where he was put in a medically induced coma in the ICU. Waking up to a multitude of injuries and found out his leg had to be amputated from the knee down.

Ryan did his best to stay positive, even though his life has changed forever, and the road ahead would be a long one. Ryan needs to learn how to walk, drive, and do everything differently.

After being released from the hospital, he is back with a staph infection and is expected to be there for approximately six weeks.

Having no insurance, being out of work, and having a family to support, it is getting harder and harder to stay positive. Being proud and always the provider, Ryan has never asked for help. If we could raise money, to help with the extensive cost of everything, this will help with stress, and he can focus on healing. Please find it in your heart to help this beautiful human, during the most difficult time in his life. If you can't help monetarily, prayers are always welcome. Thank you for taking the time to read his story.

And please, look twice, save a life. We have many and know many, that ride. So many accidents and injuries could be avoided. A crash with a motorcycle can be life-changing, or even deadly.

Edit: A friend of Ryan’s wanted people to know what a kind soul he is. During Hurricane Harvey, the newspaper did an article on Ryan and his wife, for going around and rescuing animals. They would take them home, rehabilitate, feed and connect them with their family’s. For animals that were not claimed they would find foster and forever homes. He is truly a selfless person and goes above and beyond to help others.
