Helping Mr. Proffitt Profit, He Must Teach!

HELP US HELP PROFFITT PROFIT. I’m a graduated student of Lanier High School and Mr. Proffitt was the best teacher I have ever had. He helped me gain confidence in myself, and made learning fun. I actually looked forward to his class instead of thinking of ways I can suffer through it or skip. I’ve recently found out through an article that he’s struggling during this pandemic all of us are in right now. He’s been diagnosed as a “long hauler” putting him in the 10% of COVID-19 patients. I don’t know a lot about it but from what I’ve read it’s terrible. He’s in pain every day and still has to go into work to teach because of Gwinnett county trying to continue face to face learning. He’s submitted a request to be accommodated to teach at home and has been denied. He used up his paid days off and medical leave days just to try to prevent more spreading and for his own health. Eventually he had to go back in, and he wears a face shield and a motorized respirator on top of 2 face masks every day. He boxes himself into the corner of the room at a safe 6 foot distance to keep the students safe the best he can, provided the conditions. Mr. Proffitt is a great mentor and an amazing teacher. I don’t know where I would be without his teaching or help. I gained confidence and skills in his class that I’m actually going to use in my life. Please read more about his situation in the article. Let’s help Mr. Proffitt survive this pandemic and continue teaching!!!
