Kent and Sabine - Eaton Fire Altadena Recovery Fund
Donation protected
Dear family, friends, and kind strangers,
My name is Morgan, and my family and I have created this fundraiser to help my Uncle Kent Johnson and Aunt Sabine Meyer Zu Reckendorf, who have lost their magical home and gardens in the Eaton Fire. I say with no exaggeration that Sabine and Kent's Altadena oasis is one of the most incredible homes in California -- not for its opulence or grandiosity, but for the unbelievable love, care, and wild artistry that they poured into it over the last few decades.
Their home was a work of art. Every possible surface inside and out was adorned with colorful mosaics, sculptures, and elaborate towers, all designed and crafted by Sabine herself. Every day for the last four decades, she tended to their beautiful garden, a lush and restorative escape from the bustle of LA.
Altadena is an artistic enclave, and countless neighbors have conveyed to me that it would not be the same without their mosaic wonderland - Kent and Sabine need your support to start the long journey of rebuilding. Every contribution, big and small, helps so dearly much.
My aunt and uncle are currently living in a hotel in Pasadena with their two fur-babies. They are eager to aid in the environmental recovery of Altadena and to rebuild an artistic new home, which will stand as a symbol of the neighborhood's rebirth. Just as a few pieces of Sabine's mosaics persevered in the fire, so can they and the larger Altadena community.
