Help Sabrina Rebuild After Job Loss and Eviction

Hello friends, family and community of Sabrina Swenson!

My name is Sara Griffith, and Sabrina is a very close friend of mine. We met while working together at Avid. She was one of the best bosses I’ve ever had! And how could she not be? By proxy, she is just one of the most genuine, kindest, caring and generous people I have ever known. I am so grateful our friendship has persisted through time, layoffs, and even a cross country move on my part!

It hurts my heart to put this GoFundMe together, that someone I care deeply about is going through such hardship. Sabrina was laid off from Avid in February very suddenly. We all know it’s a tough job market out there, and Sabrina has not been spared from this. Despite all her skills and talents (and efforts!) she’s been unable to secure a new job. She even took this as a sign to pursue her dream of starting her own business (Swenson AI), but that takes time and money as well. Savings can only stretch so far (and so can unemployment insurance) and unfortunately Sabrina was evicted from her home earlier this month.

She’s hoping for a stable living situation in November, but in the meantime, she needs help. This is not help that is asked for lightly or easily, and I am so proud of her for doing the hard thing and reaching out and asking. I know the days for her right now are hour by hour, day by day just trying to move forward.

I know it’s tough for all of us out there, but if you are in a position to spare any cash (no amount is too small) or have a lead on a couch in Los Angeles (Burbank/Valley) that could be crashed on, or a lead on any kind of job, I know she would appreciate it very much. She’s extremely committed to moving past this and believes that she can, but as much as it’s tough to admit, she can’t do it alone. She needs the help of her community, her people - US.

Dear Friends, Family, and Kind Supporters,

I am reaching out today with a heavy heart, but also with the hope that I can find some support during a time of extreme hardship. This year has been one of the most challenging I have ever faced, and I am humbly asking for your help to get back on my feet and rebuild my life after a devastating layoff, months of unemployment, and, most recently, homelessness.

In February, like many others in my industry, I was laid off from my job as a result of the economic downturn that has affected so many. The loss of my job was sudden and unexpected. I had dedicated years to my work, and the stability it provided allowed me to build my life and make plans for the future. This layoff absolutely turned my world upside down.

Since the layoff, I have been actively searching for new opportunities, any form of employment that would allow me to regain my footing. Despite my persistent efforts, I have not been able to secure a new job. The competition in the job market is fierce as many of you know, and as the months have passed, my financial situation has become more and more precarious.

Since it was proving to be very difficult to find stable employment, I decided to take matters into my own hands and pursue my dream of starting a business. I developed a plan, reached out to potential investors, and began working on a vision that I believe could provide not only a livelihood for myself but also a source of inspiration and service to others. Unfortunately, despite my best efforts, I have not been able to raise the necessary funds to launch a fledgling business and also support myself. These business plans are now on hold.

Unfortunately, while trying to keep moving forward, I found myself in the position that I never thought I would be in. On October 7, I was evicted from my home. This was an incredibly difficult and painful experience, and for the past few weeks, I have been without a permanent place to live. This is not something I ever thought I would experience, and I have been doing my best to stay positive and find a way forward despite the overwhelming challenges.

I am currently working with housing services and optimistic that, by November, I will be able to secure a stable living situation. That is still some time away and there is the “right now” to consider. I am in urgent need of financial assistance to cover basic necessities such as food, transportation, temporary shelter, and other day-to-day expenses. I am humbly asking for your support to help me navigate this difficult period and give me the resources I need to stabilize my situation.

I recognize that times are tough for many people right now, and it is not easy to ask for help. But I truly believe that with your support, I can overcome these challenges and rebuild my life. I am working tirelessly to move forward with the tools and resources I have, but the truth is, I can no longer do this alone. I need the kindness and support of my community, and I am eternally grateful for any help you can provide.

I really do believe that November will mark a turning point for me. I am committed to finding stable housing, continuing my job search, and eventually launching my business.
