Help A Mother of 3 kids from Gaza Survive Genocide

Donation protected
My name is Ghazal Abu-Salim, and I am a Palestinian living in Draper, Utah. I come to you with a heavy heart, seeking your assistance and support for my dear childhood friend, Israa Al-Safadi, and her family.

Israa, a single mother of three beautiful children – Sadan, 8 years old; Wateen, 5 years old and Ahmad, 3 years old – has faced unimaginable hardship during the inhuman genocide on the people of Gaza. On the 9th of October 2023, their home in Gaza City was destroyed by Israeli aerial bombings. Subsequently, the house where they sought refuge was also bombed, resulting in severe injuries to Sadan, with a lacerated skull and fractured foot. Israa had to navigate unimaginable hardships with her children, facing starvation, illness, and constant displacement.

Eventually, Israa had to take the hard decision of escaping the war, by paying the hefty coordination money to cross over to Egypt. This was possible in part, due to generosity of a few donors as well as after emptying Israa's own life savings. Israa had to take this hard decision as no aid agency such as the Red Cross or the United Nations came to their rescue even though she had an injured child with her. Although they are safe from the bombs now, Israa and her children face challenges which for other people are basic necessities i.e. a shelter, food, sanitation, healthcare. Her husband remains stuck in the West Bank due to the harsh restrictions imposed, unable to join his family and unable to find a job to support his family.

After emptying her entire life savings to save her 3 children, this mother has literally nothing left now. Her immediate challenges include securing a safe accommodation, covering medical expenses for Sadan's reconstructive surgeries and ongoing treatment, therapy for her traumatized little children and providing for their basic daily needs. Israa also faces the daunting task of rebuilding their lives without essential documents, which they lost in Gaza as they were forced to flee with nothing but the clothes they were wearing.

Here's the breakdown of the funds needed:

Accommodation rent in Egypt for one year: Minimum $8,000.
Medical Expenses: Approximately $15,000 for surgeries, medicines, counseling + $10,000 for any further emergency.
Day-to-day expenses for food, clothing, and necessities for four people for a year: Approximately $12,000.

The entire proceeds from this fundraiser will be transferred to the bank account of the family through proper banking channels.

Your continued support is crucial in ensuring the safety and well-being of Israa and her family during this challenging time. Every donation, no matter the size, will make a significant difference in their lives as they strive to start anew.

Please share this campaign with your friends, family, and colleagues to help us reach our goal and provide a safe future for Israa and her children.

I thank you for caring and for taking the time to read their story.

Thank you for your compassion and generosity.

With heartfelt gratitude,

Ghazal Abu-Salim
