Those of us that know Sadie Gray know what a thoughtful and caring person she is. She loves hard and truly wants the best for everyone she knows and loves. For the 26 years that she has been a hairstylist, she has poured her heart and soul into every client that has sat in her chair to make sure they leave looking and feeling their best. Hairstyling is her true passion and without a doubt one of her biggest callings in life.
Unfortunately, this dedication to her craft has come at the expense of her physical health in many ways, the largest being the damage it is causing to her spine. Hairstyling is an extremely physical job and the pain she experiences from it has become so severe that getting through a full day at work has become nearly impossible. Her current condition causes debilitating pain throughout her neck, arms, legs, and back. Working has become so painful that she was forced to dramatically reduce her hours, which, ultimately, lead to such a significant loss of income that she was forced to close SadieJean & Co, the salon she called home for over 7 years.
After a trip to the ER for excruciating pain she was finally about to get the care and attention she needed. An MRI showed just how extreme the damage to her spine is, and after speaking with a neurosurgeon it was determined that she needs major corrective surgery ASAP.
On July 31st Sadie will be undergoing a Multi-Level Cervical Spinal Fusion surgery. This procedure will include shaving down bone spurs, clearing up severe spinal stenosis, and fusing three vertebrae to allow room for the two bulging discs that are putting pressure on her spinal cord. This will be an intensive surgery that will require that she take a minimum of 6 months off work to properly heal.
Fortunately, Sadie is fully covered under her husband's insurance so all her medical expenses will be covered! (Thank goodness!) Unfortunately, as a self-employed hairstylist, she does not qualify for any type of disability insurance or financial assistance whatsoever. This means she will have zero income for the duration of her recovery time. Having used the last of her savings in an attempt to keep SadieJean & Co's doors open, she is left in a difficult position financially.
My goal for this GoFundMe is that the community she has built around her over the years can come together and rally around her to help reduce the financial burden as she recovers.
Every little bit helps and I know she will be extremely grateful for whatever she may receive!
Thank you!
